Anonymous asked: I'm a fan so don't take any of the below the wrong way.
Why don't you have room for questions or comments following your blogs?
Whilst I understand the volatility of the comments made regarding taking oil, your analogy to the scenario in a shop isn't accurate. Whilst there have previously been issues between the middle east and the USA, they are not the same as the US attempting to steal from someone and then trying to claim for injuries/deaths/inconvenience etc.
The USA notoriously will enter and remove/instil dictators and or governments that best suit their needs. Shall we discuss the toppling of Sadam's statue and the raising of the US flag. This is a sign of conquering, not liberating. In reality that is what they were doing.
Hi, thanks for sending in your question.
It’s in three parts so that’s how I will answer it.
Part 1 - Why don’t you have room for questions or comments following your blogs?
This is a function that my blog platform seems to exclude. Tumblr is fantastic for so many things, and whilst it’s in start up I guess it will continue to have these gremlins.
Part 2 - my analogy is inappropriate
Well I guess I wasn’t being clear because I believe it is. I was referring to the point where the commentator discloses that “Iraq should be paying the Americans and American families back with free oil”.
Whilst it is a volatile conversation, I wasn’t trying to be crude with my argument. My point is, Iraq never asked to be invaded. Like the Shop keeper never asked to be robbed. According to the TV presenter it is only fair that now, by way of gratitude Iraq and Kuwait should be paying for that, in the same way the shop thief would now be asking for fiscal retribution should he/she be hurt during the robbing.
So I believe that my analogy stands, if it’s still not clear though let me know.
Part 3 - conquering not liberating
I discussed this matter, the second it happened. In Europe we are all to used to see different political factions with their own flags like the BR (Red Brigade) the Bader Meinhoffs et al try and get support for their belief in toppling governments with their ideologies. This is no different. The only difference in point to this is that, with al the coups that have happened with the US being a super-power, how many nations are truly better off? Afghanistan in the 80s? Ecuador today? Argentina was never the same after Peron and the multitude of government toppling by the CIA.
Overall I believe that the original purpose of the UN, which stood as a global deterrent and peace enforcement force has been eroded by one nation, and one which continues to purport violence as a means of globalising nations to one vision rather than allowing for differences to flourish, and as long as we harm no one, that’s the true meaning of freedom.
